Existing Hispanic Church Joins the Charis Alliance

Pastor Francisco Collio pastors "El Refugio," which is a Hispanic church currently in the process of joining the Charis Alliance. Pastor Francisco was originally ordained into the Baptist denomination in Chile, but he is now being ordained into our fellowship to fully integrate into our global community. This transition is more than a formal procedure—it represents a deep-seated desire to unite under a common mission.

Encompass missionary Brian Bachman has been instrumental in supporting Francisco through this process. God called Brian to raise up more pastors, plant new Hispanic churches in Northern Indiana, and initiate a Spanish-speaking Bible Institute to train Hispanic leaders.

One of the most poignant moments in this journey was the first three-fold communion service at El Refugio, held on Good Friday. Pastor Francisco invited Brian to lead this special service, which included foot-washing, a love feast, and the bread and cup. This event, steeped in rich tradition, became a profound experience for everyone involved.

The community’s response was overwhelming. Brian says, “We set up expecting 25–30 people, but they just kept coming in. By the time it was over there was closer to 70!” The evening was filled with teaching from John 13, practical demonstrations, and heartfelt fellowship. There was a palpable sense of unity among the attendees, showcasing the edifying power of such a communion service. They are now equipped to do it on their own and we look forward to seeing how God blesses that in the future.

The support from experienced leaders within the Charis Alliance, like Brian and Pastor Daniel, has been crucial in navigating this transitional period. Their mentorship and supervision ensures that new leaders like Francisco are well-prepared and fully integrated into the fellowship, ready to contribute to our growth and spiritual vitality. Francisco’s energy and wisdom have already proven invaluable to this vision, and his inclusion in the fellowship is a cause for great celebration.

This story is about more than just planting churches—it is an invitation for all of us to consider how we might bless and support other churches in our own communities. As we reflect on this journey, let us be inspired to seek out opportunities to serve, to support, and to pray for one another, trusting that God’s blessings will flow abundantly through our collective efforts.

Please pray for Pastor Francisco, his wife Lisa, and El Refugio church. May God continue to guide and strengthen them as they step into this new chapter within the Charis Alliance. And may we, too, find ways to bless and uplift those around us, fostering a community that reflects Jesus’s love.
